If you’re wondering why I haven’t been my normal chatty self this week, I actually do have a good reason! I’ve been grumpy. Or I was. Last weekend I started a reboot – a juicing cleanse – and not eating solids has definitely weighed down on my attitude a bit (just ask my kids, they’ll tell you, lol). The benefits do greatly out-rank binging on chocolate and having macaroni and cheese whenever I want, one of those benefits being 14lbs of weight loss so far. And it’s only week one of four. Yep. For 30 days I’ll be doing this – juicing for breakfast, snacks, lunch, dinner and then drinking at least 60-80oz’s of water on top of that. Right now I’m detoxing (or coming to the end of that) so my energy level was really low most of the week and I admit, I thought for sure I might die on day 3. But I didn’t and now I’m feeling better!
What does any of this have to do with writing? Well, nothing and everything at the same time. I haven’t been able to write all week. Go ahead, you try focusing on a fictional world when the smell of your kids eating pickles outside makes your mouth water for twenty minutes or your nine-year old forgets what you are doing and offers you some of her salad. My brain did a short-circuit and said, ‘Nope. You are off duty till this detoxing thing is over and you no longer want to eat your way through the Ghirardelli Chocolate Factory.’ Well, that’s easier said than done, but today I think I’m ready to get back to it…obviously I’m HERE, so that’s a start. LOL
I’ve also been dragging my feet, so to speak, about when I want to start working on the 3rd Find Me book. The research has already started and I need to develop some plot points before even daring to begin Chapter 1, but it keeps nagging at me to get started. This means on top of being food-deprived (but, mind you, NOT nutrient and/or vitamin deprived) my Muse is a straight up mess. Complete with frizzed out, unbrushed hair and bags under her eyes. She does not want to wait anymore, but she’s a tricky little sneak, and forgets I am merely one person and can’t write a dozen books at once. I mean, I guess I could, but you wouldn’t see one published for years.
Anyway, I have my headphones on and the children sworn to behave for a little while. So I’ll re-enter the Dry Lands and see where it takes me. I don’t mind how much gets written, as long as it’s not total crap. 😉

Happy Weekend, Everyone!
