See how this sexy feline takes on every challenge thrown at her and in the process discover that there’s more to life than meets the eye.

Melissa Simmons and Alanna Kephart

disturbance call with a new pet puppy and a homicide to solve things get even more interesting. Can the canine witness help Adam solve his first big case?

Emily Walker
Cats
The animal kingdom is starting to act a little funny. As citizens are finding out cats big and small can be dangerous. How will humanity fight back? They won’t.

Miranda Stork and Trish Marie Dawson

One computer, two inquisitive kitties, and a Skype call that might just be the greatest thing since chunks in gravy.
Tinsel and River are both bored with their everyday lives, bored with their humans—and on different sides of the world. But when they find a mysterious device that allows them to talk to one another, their rivalry turns to friendship, and they plot to do the greatest thing any cat has ever done…
ESCAPE FROM THEIR HUMANS.
But can two little cats really succeed at their plan, especially when the world outside is full of six-toed tomcats, boorish farm cats, and no one to open packets of food?

Carolyn Wolfe
Miracle Paws, A Love Story
Something amazing happens when a lonely and abandoned dog comes into the life of four people. Trust issues, wariness and past hurts are the challenges that each and every one of them must overcome, in order to be whole again. Taisheena Rayne
Win, Place or Show
Kendall Watts is excited to open PawPaws Puppy Pieces and move into her new house. What she doesn’t count on is a stray dog disrupting her life in more than one way.
Jeffery Stevens is content with his lot in life. He loves volunteering to help abused animals. He isn’t looking for love, but then again he didn’t expect his dog to stray into the neighbor’s yard.

Shauna Wilhelm
Fostering Hope
When Tristan decides he should bring in some interns to his animal foster system to help due to the low staff and high number of animals, he never thought that he would also find Bianca, the girl he would hope to be the one to build the animal shelter into what he dreamt it should be from the beginning. They both have the same opinions on the shelter, life, and more.

Cover Reveal!

November 1st will be the launch of my latest anthology collaboration – a piece for the animals! Y’all know I’m an avid animal lover and rights supporter, and I got to participate in a collaboration with other animal loving writers for a unique book about rescued animals. I am SO excited! I worked with the lovely Miranda Stork via Side Street Cookie Publishing on ‘A Tale of Two Kitties’; a funny and sarcastic interaction based on our real-life rescue kitty’s – Tinsel and River.

We can’t wait to get this book out there, because #1 – it was fun to write, and #2 – the proceeds will be going to an animal rescue shelter in the UK and one based here in the States. So…mark your calendars for this release! I want to get some great funds to these organizations for all they do! While you wait for the 1st to roll around, check out the cover and give it a share, can ya? Thank you! Mwah!

Sunday Snippet!

The Bitten

A new collaborative book is coming out soon called The Bitten. All proceeds are going to my writing friend, Brandon Hale, who was recently diagnosed with cancer. He’s a trooper and though he’s won some tough battles already, the war is just starting. Brandon writes about vampires, so a group of us decided to throw together an anthology in his name – vampire and werewolf themed. I do hope you grab a copy when it is released. Not just because Brandon has cancer, or because I have a short in the anthology, but because the entire collection is awesomesauce. Below in an excerpt from Madness, my contribution…

“Yep, that’s her all right.”

The Santa Ana wind howled through the trees so fiercely, Detective Kevan Capalbo was certain any trace evidence had long ago been blown away into the hills of the Cleveland National Forest.

“How you figure? Cap, there’s not much left of her face.” The younger man ran a hand through his thick hair and stared at everything other than the decomposing body at their feet.

“Look at the inside of her left ankle,” Capalbo said.

“No shit. I see it now – a rose tat. Yeah, looks like this is our missing girl.”

With a sigh, the seasoned detective finally risked pulling his pad out of his back pocket to jot down notes. The wind lifted the small papers up in a flurry and eventually he cursed, swapping the notepad for his cell.

“Tell me what you see,” he said to his partner, who was once again glancing at everything around them and not at the naked woman lying face up at the base of a large oak tree.

“Uh. Ligature marks on both wrists and ankles – suggests she was restrained. Defensive wounds on her left hand. And…ah shit…”

“Yeah. I saw them too.” Detective Capalbo stepped around the body carefully and squatted above the torso. Using a gloved finger, he brushed aside a section of black hair and pointed to the small puncture holes above the woman’s left shoulder. “Looks like our biter is back,” he said with a sigh.

“Just wait till the press gets word of this,” his partner scoffed.

“They won’t. Not today anyway. Get the body bagged and out of here. The less people see – the better. I don’t want any of this out till we know for sure it’s our man.” With a groan, he stood and walked around the nude woman, standing near the soles of her dirty feet with his arms crossed at his chest.

“What is it, Cap?”

With his cool gaze fixed on the small rose tattoo, he gritted his teeth together and said above the roar of the wind, “Rayns, I have to nail this fucker.”

The wheel of the year turns, bringing the joy of spring, the warmth of summer, the richness of autumn, and the merriment of winter. But eight Celtic festivals link these seasons together, bringing with them romance, lust, danger, and even magic. From a city under threat from night-time creatures at Ostara, to a selkie caught by the light of the Lughnasadh moon, to a writer caught in the flames of a fiery goddess at Imbolc. Eight authors have come together to give their own twist on these festivals, weaving each story with a blend of myth, magic, and contemporary telling…to create A Celtic Tapestry.

Excerpt from Crimson Beat by Elle J Rossi

Somebody is going to die tonight.

“Oh, lucky me. It’s Josie. I see you’ve joined the living.”

I stop and squint into the dark interior of Wolfie’s, where I tend bar five nights a week and sometimes on Sunday. Annoyance wraps its prickly arms around me, instantly changing my mood from thoughtful to combative. Perhaps the cocky bartender has a death wish. So what if I’m a little late tonight and didn’t show up for work last night? I don’t have to explain my reasons or whereabouts to this knob. At least I’m here now. Sore, but here. As for the living part, I can’t really claim to be completely alive—not in the human sense of the word—but no chance will I be sharing that bit of juice with the tool behind the bar. The less he knows the better. Same goes for most of the general population.

Ignorance is bliss. Especially this time of year. Ostara—the Spring Equinox—is one of only two times a year when light equals dark. When the secluded lore creatures come out of hiding to wreak havoc on the innocent. When daywalkers and nightwalkers co-exist for a full twenty-four hours. A recipe for disaster, also known as: My Busiest Season.

Even now, I’m scanning the crowd, alert and ready to protect. Humans are so unassuming, so blasé when it comes to their safety. In their defense, they don’t know what lurks around the dark corners at night. I do, and it isn’t pretty.

I’m Josie Hawk.

I’m a killer. Literally. Technically I’m classified as a Huntress (even though I’m only a half-breed), but the ultimate outcome of any given hunt is death. Be it by hand or weapon—I prefer blades with blinged-out handles. It isn’t easy, but it’s who I am. My father taught me how to hunt and how to live. My mother, God rest her soul, taught me how to love fiercely. But then she died and took most of that love with her. The fierce part I kept though. I hold it close, like a baby clutches a blanket, security in the purest sense. If I’m fierce, I’m alive. If I’m alive, I can hunt. And if I can hunt, I can protect the people of my city.

To most, I’m just another bartender in another bar. Friendly enough, even if a little off with my over the top opinions and fashion choices. I don’t mind being off. I suppose some killers might prefer to blend, become part of the scenery. Not me. I prefer to be the brightest flower in the bunch. The red rose stashed in a white bouquet. The lone neon sign on the dark street.

As I sashay by in my zombie stompers and ripped fishnets, I try hard not to limp from my recently injured ankle, because let’s face it, limping totally ruins the whole sashay effect.

But I can’t be that flashy all the time. Not when I’m hunting. The time between last call and dawn, I become part of the shadows, part of the night. I spend so many hours there, it’s no wonder I prefer the spotlight in my off time.

Interview with Elle J. Rossi’s Keller O’Leary, from Crimson Beat

Thanks for being here today, Keller. Sit back and relax and please do your best to keep your fangs to yourself…I have somewhere to be later and getting blood on my nice white top just won’t be acceptable. I do hope you understand.

It’s a pleasure to be here, Trish. Rest assured, I’m well fed these days.

It might bring up some tough feelings, but how did you become a vampire – who turned you?

Aye, uttering his name has the potential to summon him. Trust me, love, you don’t want him here. You’d never make it to your evening engagement.  What I can tell you is that my turning was intentional. Part of a bigger plan. I donnae know how many he’s sired over the years, but I know the time nears when he will call us to his side. We’re bound to go. It is a time I’m not looking forward to.

Exactly how old are you, Keller?

My human birth year was 1892. I was turned in 1919 at the onset of the Irish civil war. Let’s see. That makes me a mere 121 years old, which is fairly young for an immortal.

What is the biggest secret you hold close to your heart?

I cannae bear to lose Josie. She is my heart. She holds my soul. The time will come when we will both have to make a choice. I fear her answer will not be the same as mine.

Can you tell me the story about how you met the lovely Josie Hawk?

I have my sister to thank for that. Sage has a fondness for country music. Nashville is the perfect fit for her. She introduced me to Josie right after Josie stomped me with her combat boot and tried to stake me to the ground. Josie is fierce. Shall we say her blood sang to me? She didn’t quite see it that way. Still doesn’t, I’m sure. But I’m infectious. And persistent.

Where do you see your relationship with Josie going? You seem fated to be together, but life does happen…

Aye, we are fated. Deliciously so. Getting Josie to realize that is a daily struggle. One I enjoy, I might add. There are several ways to remind her that we’re better together than apart. My intention is to spend eternity with her. You say life happens. I’m more concerned with death. Hers. Perhaps we should change the subject.

So, you play in a band. What’s your favorite song to do?

We can blame Josie and Sage for this answer: Kerosene by Miranda Lambert. Mad drums in that tune.

Do you have any tattoos?

Actually, I don’t have any. I’m a little old fashioned in that way.

If you were offered a cure for vampirism, would you take it?

That would depend entirely on Josie and what the future holds for us. I will not stand idle and watch her grow old while I remain unchanged. I cannae do that. I won’t.

Is sex any different as a vampire?

Aye. Very. Sex is exquisite. Every sound is amplified. Every whisper of a touch becomes utter eroticism. The taste…  The bite… It’s a bonding of souls when there is love between the partners. You become one and many and nothing and everything. Aye, very different.

If you had one wish to make, what would you wish for?

I wish to spend eternity with the only woman I have ever loved.
