In the Find Me series, anyone can become a villain. Meet Ash…

When Ashlyn was seven, her mom kicked her dad out of the house. That first night, knowing that it was going to be different forever, her mom tucked her in and told her the story of the phoenix. She went on to explain to her that life had a way of burning down the beautiful things, but out of the ashes, something new would come. From that day forward, Ashlyn demanded her mom and all her friends call her ‘Ash’. She would be a phoenix, and rise from the ashes reborn, despite all that life hurled her way…

Tuesday Teaser – WHIL is Coming Soon!

It’s right around the corner – the release of the 4th Find Me book, ‘Where Hope is Lost’. You’ll need to wear your big kid panties for this book, y’all. Things are messy in Riley’s world.

“Stay down,” Jin warned.

Two more shots. That was five total. From all fours, I searched the shadows for answers. They played with my eyes, twisting and morphing into shapes that weren’t real. We couldn’t crawl back to the cabin, but I couldn’t stand either. A shift was happening in my brain; reality and fantasy became dance partners, mingling and moving in tandem. Every shadow of the forest turned into someone I knew. Matt leered at me from behind a tree, with Bobby and Alan shimmering into shape beside him. My head spun. Skip stepped out from behind the skeletal remains of a bush, a smile on his broad face. Fin was there too, talking from across the woods. He waved for me to come to him, to follow him down the trail. At his back, two children, my children, darted from one tree to another, laughing. Fin kept talking, his mouth moving with urgency, but I couldn’t hear him. I couldn’t hear anything.

“What’s he saying,” I asked. “I can’t hear…” Someone tugged on my arm as Fin turned away from us, fading into the trail like mist. “Wait,” I called. “Wait for me!”

Both my arms were lifted and my heels brushed against the ground as I was dragged away. I felt it coming, another break that would take me out of this world and into another, but then the scenery changed and I was set down hard on my ass. My cheek exploded from pain. Jin had slapped me hard across the face. While a tear ran out of my left eye from the sting, I stared up at him, shocked.

“Are you here?” he demanded, his voice thick with concern. “Are you here with me?”

I nodded, trembling in every joint, unsure of what was real and what wasn’t. “I’m here,” I said. “I’m here.”

He bent forward and yanked me upright. With his face an inch from mine, he hissed, “Then run!”

Tuesday Teaser – WHIL

Happy Tuesday, again! WHIL is right around the corner…releasing later this month. Want another Teaser from the 4th book in the Find Me Series? Read on…

Have you met Jin?

He wasn’t good with people, his father always told him so. His mother was the more philosophical parent. She always reminded him that if you are your own person, friends would find you. As he sat at the window and watched Riley doze in her chair, he wished he knew what to say to calm her, but words would not help the woman. She had yet to mention any details about how it was that she ended up half-dead in the woods, covered in dried blood that wasn’t all hers, and he wouldn’t ask for them. It was not his story to tell.

Curiosity sure was a nag, though.

To settle his mind, he refocused on the view outside the window, at the shadows below their sanctuary that moved around the base of the evergreens trying to find the ones that didn’t belong. Jin had been watching the woods for weeks, more so over the last few days. He knew when Riley had entered them because the normal bird chatter shifted to more of a whisper, more of a warning. Just like they were now. Present, but quiet. Like Riley’s mood…

Now what…

There’s plenty of pre-release stuff to do for WHIL, but while its with the editor, it’s time to think about what’s next on the TMDBook To-Do list, which is longer than my arm. I’m thinking it’s time to re-read The Dry Lands and visit Hutch and A’ris again. Did you read it? Did you like their story??

If you haven’t met this duo yet, knock yourself out! I mean, not literally…if you’re unconscious that means you can’t read, and that would suck for both of us.

The Dry Lands

Before FM4, TDL was my longest title. And there was still SO much to say, so book 2 should be a fun one to dive back into. No pun intended, because HA2 already has a title: The Wet Lands. *cracks knuckles* Let the research begin. 😉 My inner hippie is going to LOVE this.

Tuesday Teaser – WHIL

Happy Tuesday – here’s a teaser from the upcoming 4th book in the Find Me Series, ‘Where Hope is Lost’:

“Have you slept?” Ashlyn asked.

He didn’t turn to look at her, but shrugged again. “I sleep when I need it.”

“And what, you never need it?”

When he glared over his shoulder, he found her closer to his seat than expected, sipping from one of the mugs. She leaned against the wall, just two feet next to the oversized chair he lounged on. Drake didn’t like her this close, where he could smell the sweet and unidentifiable hint of her perfume. He didn’t like any of them in his space. To say it made him uncomfortable was an understatement.
